In celebration of its 40th anniversary - the Beaufort® was originally designed in 1983 as a sporting jacket, with the style and design inspired by Chairman Dame Margaret Barbour's visits to France. At that time, sporting jackets there tended to have more features and style than usually the case in the UK, and the name Beaufort® was chosen to highlight it's continental character.
